Jenni’s younger brother Jason has Down syndrome. Growing up, Jason was one of the first students with Down syndrome in their school district, which lead to isolation and bullying. Through Special Olympics sports and youth leadership opportunities, Jenni and Jason were able to witness inclusion for the first time. This gave Jenni the inspiration to create the PALS program and the “Congratulations Project”, an initiative where people with Down syndrome write letters of hope and inspiration to new parents of babies diagnosed with Down syndrome. In this video, we hear real letters that were delivered to those parents.
