People of UCCS: Rudy Nesbitt

The Unified Champion City Schools (UCCS) initiative is a targeted program bringing together students with and without intellectual disabilities in urban school districts with the highest need. In People of UCCS, we spotlight exceptional educators at the forefront of these programs.

Meet Rudy Nesbitt of Taylor Allerdice High School in Pittsburgh, PA. Rudy was the school’s wrestling coach when a need arose for a Unified Track coach. He leaped at the opportunity to lead the team. Rudy’s fight for inclusion is personal: his brother had an intellectual disability and was bullied at school. Through UCCS, Rudy has witnessed a change in the hallways at Allerdice. There’s less bullying and more inclusion. The future is bright.
