Ponaganset HS: A Case Study
Ponaganset High School in Rhode Island is a great representation of what it means to be a Unified Champion Banner School: one that has met the 10 standards of excellence. Ponaganset High School also created the Inclusion Pledge taken around the world by supporters of the Special Olympics movement for the 50th Anniversary. This film highlights elements of all three components that make up a Unified Champion School: Unified Sports, Inclusive Youth Leadership and Whole School Engagement.
There are over 6,500 Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools® in the United States. While they all may look a bit different, they all embody the same three components: Unified Sports, Inclusive Youth Leadership and Whole School Engagement. This video is part of a larger collection of Case Studies highlighting various Unified Champion Schools and the ways they implement inclusive programming. Watch these videos if you are interested in learning what Special Olympics looks like in schools.
