#UnifiedGeneration Review

Former U.S. Youth Ambassador and current Unified Champion Schools consultant Tajha Ilerant had the following to say about the impact of the above video:

“This video is about the Boys and Girls Club of Mississippi Delta and their athletes and partners. I love this video because it shares with you the story of the athlete, partners, and coaches on how they travel all the way to the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games in Orlando, Florida to compete in basketball, one of my favorite things.

This video is super important because it shows you exactly how athletes have different inspirations for why they compete, just like Dillon and his grandma.   Then it cuts to them practicing and going over plays before they head to the Special Olympics Games. You see how dedicated they really are.  This whole entire video shows you the happiness upon everyone’s faces while they compete and it made me tear up a little a bit.

I hope one takeaway that someone has from watching this video is that it’s easy to get involved with Special Olympics. Maybe you will find its through your local Boys & Girls Club! I honestly believe this going to touch a lot of people’s hearts, especially communities that do not have a Unified program  yet. They will be asking themselves why have I waited so long to get one in my community ?

Our partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America

The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of America is to enable all young people to reach their potential.

Young people today face many challenges. Such as achieving personal and academic success. Or feeling safe both in emotional and physical ways. For a young person, the typical school and social environment be hard. This can impact their overall happiness and development.
The new partnership between Special Olympics and Boys & Girls Clubs of America will create systemic change. This will impact both present and future generations of young people. We will do this by using the Unified model in Boys & Girls Clubs across the country. This is a a new way for young people to experience inclusive programming outside the classroom.
