Special Olympics North America National School Recognition Program

Does your school have what it takes?

To celebrate the schools across the country that exemplify the inclusive spirit of Special Olympics, the Unified Champion Schools created the National Recognition Program. A banner Unified Champion School must meet the ten national standards of excellence for inclusion—criteria that focus on inclusive youth leadership, whole school engagement, Unified Sports®, and sustainability.

This year, Special Olympics and partner ESPN are proud to announce the first ESPN Honor Roll. This group of 30 banner schools is at the forefront of inclusion. One banner school from each participating Special Olympics U.S. Program was nominated and will be honored with exclusive ESPN prizes. Congratulations to the very first ESPN Honor Roll!

All schools who join the #InclusionRevolution are on the right track to making this world a more inclusive place. But the ESPN Top 5 National Banner Presentation are given exclusively to elite Unified Champion Schools that have met the 10 national standards of inclusion and have been nominated by their state Special Olympics program.
